With the beginning of another year we welcome new colleagues to Ryerson. To me this is one of the most enjoyable aspects of my job as a faculty member and as the director at the Learning & Teaching Office. Our new colleagues come to us from universities around the world and bring a wealth of knowledge to us. This alone is a great benefit to Ryerson, but to me it’s the fact that we have opportunities to make new friends, learn new stories, and create new research collaborations that really make this special. I have learned in this position that our new colleagues value getting to know ‘seasoned Ryerson faculty’.
I am hoping that each of you will take this opportunity to meet a few new faculty in your departments, Faculty, and at Ryerson events, especially those offered through the LTO. One event that is coming up this month is New Faculty Orientation. I am always looking for seasoned faculty who might like to help out, or just come out to meet our new faculty. If this is something that you might like to do, just contact me. I can assure you that you will enjoy the event.
