Next week, I will be participating in the 3-day instructional skills workshop (ISW). The ISW is a comprehensive three-tiered instructor development program. The experiential learning approach used in the ISW focuses on providing participants with theory on teaching adult learners, developing learning objectives and engagement strategies but also allows the participants to practice and reflect on his/her own learning process.
Although I am not an instructor or going to be one anytime soon, I was interested in the program because I felt there was a lot I can learn and gain from the written and verbal feedback I will receive from my fellow workshop participants. I hope to use the safe environment of the ISW small group setting to develop my presentation skills and make me a better communicator!
